Andover Stuffing Event

Description of the Andover Stuffing event from Mary and Geoff Dunn

Members of the All Saints’ Craft Group have shown great skill in knitting pure wool cushions for the competitors in the 2012 Olympic Games. This is part of a National appeal from the Olympic Committee. Not only have the Ladies been producing beautiful cushions, they have encouraged the children from Abbotts Ann and Clatford Primary Schools to learn the skill. Under the tuition of Barbara Watts, Jo Fancy, Mary Dunn and members of School Staff, the children have really enjoyed this experience and have produced some wonderful cushions.

The Meadow Room at All Saints’ was volunteered as a ‘cushion stuffing centre’ and, on 2nd February, our ladies were joined by others from Picket Piece and Chandlers Ford (the lady and her husband travelled all the way to Andover using buses). In the background, refreshments were prepared by two husbands who took great pleasure in seeing their work disappearing before their eyes.
Each competitor will receive a cushion to mark their participation in the Games. Knitters from all over Britain will, I am sure, feel really proud to have been part of this initiative.
